- Sea Otter Classic
The Sea Otter Classic is one of the biggest cycling events in the states each year. Aaron and I traveled up to compete in the mountain bike cross country races. The result was not what I was hoping for, but my training hasn't been great over the last few months. Hopefully, I'll be able to improve for the next few events.
- Racers & Chasers #3
Aron, Jim and me attended the The 3rd Racers & Chasers event.
- Video
The new GoPro Camera HD is awesome! I am working the bugs out (and mounting), but I will be posting more in the near future so check back regularly!!! The posted resolution is lower than the camera's capability because of space limitations.
Some dance lesson highlights from months of practice!
- Racers & Chasers #1
We have MTB racing IN San Diego! The Racers & Chasers Series kicked off with a fantastic event near the Velodrome. There were nearly 200 participants on the 5-miles course! The expert category rode 4 laps, approximately 22 miles. I finished 1st in Expert 30-39 in a time of 1.18.58. The next race is in mid-January in the Elfin Forest.
- USA Cycling MTB National Championships, Solvista, Colorado
The USA MTB National Championships were in Solvista, Colorado this year. I competed in the CAT 1 30-34 XC race and the CAT 1 30-39 Short Track Cross Country. Unfortunately, the XC race ended on lap 1 of 3 due to a flat tire. The short track race ended on lap 5 of 7 as the leader caught me. You are not allowed to be lapped. This was my first short track event and I was satisfied with the effort.
- Idyllwild Spring Challenge
I had a rough race this year. The 30-mile expert course was a step up from the 23-mile sport course I raced before. This year I managed to wreck twice in the first 5km. I'll blame it on riding portions of the 24hr course in reverse, but bike handling was also suspect.
- Sea Otter Classic
One hell of a cycling event in Monterrey, CA.

- Brian's Head Utah
Sorry... i haven't had a second to edit the photos that are not in focus. The dynamic, single-point autofocus was not the right choice.
- Summer Vacation
The pictures are from a 3-day hike from Estes Park, Colorado, over the Continental Divide and into Grand Lake, CO.
- Clamato for the Soul
Good company and bad beer made for a great afternoon in Big Bear, CA.
- 12Hrs of Temecula #2
Aron Tremble, Jim Trauth and myself competed in the 3-Person Open category.
- Big Bear Shootout
What a race!!! Aron Tremble and I ventured to Bear Lake, CA to try our hand in the California State MTB Series. We were confident on the drive up and that confidence was further enhanced by our stop at "The Bus Stop", a great little pastry shop on the drive into town (If you are dense this is a recommendation).
The Sport race was 20 miles long, combining uphill and downhill fire roads with some of the best single-track I've ridden in Southern California.
This was my best and most tactical race of the season. I found myself in a battle for 2nd place at the top of the last climb. It was all I could do hang onto his back wheel. Fortunately, my superior (I use this term very loosely) downhill skills developed over years of training in the "steeps" of Kansas enabled me to carry the day.
Previously: A couple of pictures from our Monday trip to Big Bear. The race next weekend is the Big Bear Shootout, Stop 4 of the So Cal Cross-Country Series.
- Wyatt's 2nd Birthday
Ava Rose Wyatt's birthday party at Dusty Roads Park in Ocean Beach. Frankly, I'm pretty dissappointed that there aren't any pictures of the kickball game...
- Los Olivos, California - NMBS #3
The 3rd stop in the National Mountain Bike Series in Los Olivos, CA.
- Idyllwild Spring Challenge
The Idyllwild Spring Challenge was a 19 mile loop that showed me I am not a good climber... At least the new Wlidcat jersey kept me looking cool the whole time.
- National Mountain Biking Series #2
Last weekend I ventured to MC Dowell Mountain Park in Fountain Hills, AZ for the second stop on the National Mountain Bike Series. I raced in the Sport Men 20-29. My friend Aaron Elwell raced in the Semi-Pro category and Kyle Ashton raced in the Expert 30-34. The terrain was very fast, but also very unforgiving (you'll have to look at the pictures). The cross-country course was a 10 miles loop comprised mainly of hard packed sand, loose sandy river beds and a few rocky decents.

- 12 Hours of Temecula
Whoa! The first race (3-part series) of the season is in the books. Two 2-man open teams, Team Duke (Al and Matt) as well as Jim and Aron, hammered out laps in this 12 hour endurance race. Mr. Macina threw down some huge air for big style points at the start/finish line. Big thanks to the support staff of Shannon, Lz, Kristi, Haley & (even) Rich.
